Nace el 9 de julio de 1959 en Southport, Inglaterra.
Trayectoria musical
Influido por Lou Reed, Syd Barreto, Marc Bolan, David Bowie y Jacques Brel, integró las bandas Soft Cell y Marc & the Mambas.
Tras fundar The Willing Sinners, su banda acompañante, graban en 1984 el álbum VERMIN IN ERMINE.
Otros álbumes de la década de los 80 son: STORIES OF JOHNNY VIRGIN (1985); MOTHER FIST AND HER FIVE DAUGHTERS VIRGIN (1987); THE STARS WE ARE PARLOPHONE (1988) y JACQUES SOME BIZARRE LABEL (1989).
Entre sus temas más escuchados se encuentran: Stories of Johnny; Tears Run Rings; The Days of Pearly Spencer; Somethings Gotten Hold of My Heart, este último a dúo con Gene Pitney, el cual se posicionó en la cima de lo más escuchado en Reino Unido en 1989.
