Avantasia es el proyecto del artista en solitario Tobias Sammet, vocalista y líder de la banda de power Metal, Edguy. El nombre de este proyecto es una mezcla de dos palabras: «Avalon y Fantasía y describe un mundo más allá de la imaginación humana». Este proyecto consiste en dos CDs de 23 piezas, en el que cuenta una historia ficticia de un monje dominico, Gabriel, en el año 1602.
