Jim Mickle (nacido en 1979) es un director y escritor de origen norteamericano, conocido por películas tales como Mulberry Street, Stake Land, We Are What We Are y Cold in July. También co-dirigió las series SundanceTV, Hap and Leonard, y la serie de Netflix Sweet Tooth.
Nacimiento y Juventud
Jim Mickle nació en Pottstown, Pennsylvania en 1979. Mickle se inspiró para convertirse en director después de ver el filme Army of Darkness. Asistió a la Universidad de New York y se graduó en el año 2002. Trabajó como asistente de producción en una serie de películas de directores noveles que no habían ido a escuelas de cine. La experiencia fue frustrante para él, y describió las películas como proyectos vanidosos. Mickle prefiere dirigir y editar a escribir, y se siente atraído por la flexibilidad e intensidad de los filmes de terror.
Carrera
Mickle y Nick Damici se conocieron mientras trabajaban en una película de tesis de estudiantes en 2001. Mientras estaban en ese proyecto, se les ocurrió la idea de una película de zombies. Este concepto eventualmente se transformó en su primera colaboración, Mulberry Street, un filme de horror sobre la gentrificación en la ciudad de New York. Mickle's second film, Stake Land, was a New York Times Critics' Pick. His 2013 film We Are What We Are was screened at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and in the Directors' Fortnight section at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. He directed the film adaptation of Joe R. Lansdale's novel Cold in July, in which Michael C. Hall starred, and has worked on Esperanza, the story of a fatal wildfire in southern California, adapted by Sean O'Keefe from a book by John N. Maclean. In 2016 Mickle & Damici developed the TV series Hap and Leonard, based on Joe R. Lansdale's novels, with Mickle directing multiple episodes during the series' three seasons.
