Thomas Geoffrey Wilkinson Jr. OBE (Leeds, 12 de diciembre de 1948), conocido como Tom Wilkinson, es un actor inglés, famoso por su papel de Gerald en la exitosa película británica The Full Monty, y por su papel como el Sacerdote Richard Moore en la película de terror El exorcismo de Emily Rose.

Actualmente vive en el norte de Londres con su esposa, la también actriz Diana Hardcastle, y sus dos hijas: Alice y Mollie
Tom estudió literatura inglesa y estadounidense en la Universidad de Kent, e interpretación en la Royal Academic of Dramatic Arts. A mediados de los años 70 debutó en el cine con “La Línea de Sombra” (1976), siendo en este período su medio habitual la televisión. En la pequeña pantalla participó durante las décadas de los 70 y 80 en numerosos telefims y series, interpretando en diversas ocasiones al inspector Charlie Resnick, un personaje creado por el novelista John Harvey. En 1988 se casó con la actriz Diana Hardcastle, con quien ha tenido dos hijas llamadas Alice y Molly. Su carrera cinematográfica se afianzó a mitad de los años 90 tras intervenir en películas como “Sentido y Sensibilidad” (1995), película de Ang Lee basada en el clásico homónimo de Jane Austen, o “Full Monty” (1997), film dirigido por Peter Cattaneo. En el año 2001 fue nominado al Oscar como mejor actor principal por “En La Habitación” (2001), una película dirigida por Todd Field. Más tarde fue candidato a la estatuilla como secundario por “Michael Clayton” (2007), película que le emparejó con George Clooney. Otros títulos de su filmografía son “Shakespeare Enamorado” (1998) de John Madden, “Hora Punta” (1998), comedia de acción dirigida por Brett Ratner, “El Patriota” (2000) de Roland Emmerich, “Olvídate De Mí” (2004) de Michel Gondry, o “Batman Begins” (2005), adaptación del cómic de Bob Kane dirigida por Christopher Nolan. En “Rocknrolla” (2008), comedia criminal de Guy Ritchie, es Lenny Cole, un gángster con múltiples contactos en el mercado inmobiliario. El mismo año intervino en “Valkiria” (2008) interpretando al general Friedrich Fromm. En la película de espionaje “Duplicity” (2009) compartió créditos con Julia Roberts, Clive Owen y Paul Giamatti. En el film de Roman Polanski, “El Escritor” (2011) interpretó a un profesor de Harvard llamado Paul Emmett. En la película de superhéroes “The Green Hornet” (2011) es el padre de Seth Rogen. En “Selma” (2014), film sobre Martin Luther King, encarnó al presidente de los Estados Unidos Lyndon B. Johnson. Al año siguiente compartió créditos con Vince Vaughn en la comedia “Negocios Con Resaca” (2015). Interpretó al abogado Richard Rampton en “Negación” (2016), film protagonizado por Rachel Weisz.
