Historia
Queen tenía una regla: cada quien escribía por su cuenta. Fue así, por su cuenta, que Freddie Mercury llegó con Bohemian Rhapsody. El tema le había rondado en la mente por años, pero solo había conseguido una tonada que llamó The Cowboy Song que iniciaba con la línea: “mama, just killed a man”.
La canción se compone de seis secciones. Inicia con balada para escuchar un solo de guitarra, luego la ópera, el rock y el final, algo inusual para en el mundo de la música o todavía más extraño al tratarse de una banda de rock.
Con casi 6 minutos de duración y con una sección de ópera en el medio, desafió las reglas de la industria musical de ese entonces.
Freddie Mercury dijo en su momento que cada oyente debería escuchar y formar su propia opinión sobre la canción. Y así lo han hecho los fanáticos. Brian May y Roger Taylor aseguran que se trata de un tema que expone completamente a Mercury, con algunas partes sin sentido.
